Baker City Oregon was named one of Rand McNally and USA TODAY’s Bestoftheroad most beautiful small towns, six finalists in 2011. The Best of the Road judges “the Mcnavigators”, visited Baker City in July and spent a day and a half exploring this charming and historic NE Oregon community.
The judges visited the National Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and Walked in the Ruts of the Oregon Trail, threw out the opening pitch in the Team Rudi Wooden Bat Tournament, and toured the historic downtown by horse drawn carriage and surrounding neighborhoods on a tandem bike.
The Community also hosted an Ice cream social for community members to meet the judges.
While in Baker City the judges stayed at the restored historic Geiser Grand hotel and sampled some of Baker City’s best restaurants including Barley Brown’s Brew Pub.
